Local Euro-MP Bill Newton Dunn was today won over by the message of Sir Paul McCartney, during the star's extraordinary visit to the European Parliament. The famous vegetarian urged Parliamentarians and guests to sign up to his "Meat Free Monday" campaign. The campaign argues that cutting down on meat consumption even once a week is a simple but effective way for people to reduce their carbon footprints, since livestock rearing emits such a great amount of greenhouse gases.

After long negotiations the Council gave in to Parliament's demands to guarantee Internet users who are suspected of uploading or downloading illegal material a "prior, fair and impartial procedure".

Afghanistan: Pauline Jenkins, Lib Dem PPC for Newark, was interviewed at Conference by the British Forces Network asking he whether or not the UK should withdraw troops. Pauline said the UK has to have a very clear exit strategy agreed with the many nations which have troops in Afghanistan now.

This is a very busy and large conference. Policy debates and decisions take place all day from 9.a.m to 6.pm in the main auditorium. Additionally there are 270 fringe meetings at breakfast, lunchtimes, and in the evening as well as 160 exhibition stands and many training sessions for activists.
