Pauline grew up in Liverpool and went to Manchester University and then moved to London to study for an MSc. After that she worked in local government until 1978 when she moved to the countryside so that her children could have a rural upbringing. It was at this point that she first became involved with the Liberal party; she was a Town Councillor for a term.

Pauline taught physics for 18 years until she moved to Brussels in 2003 to join her husband. She returned to the UK in 2006 and became a Town and District Councillor in the 2006 elections.

Manchester University, BSc (Hons) Liberal Studies in Science

MSc Information Science

PGCE in Physical Sciences

Council experience:

Town Councillor for Southwell and Trent 1998-2003 and then 2006-present

Occupation:

Secondary School Teacher

Interests:

Sailing, walking in the Peaks or North Yorkshire Moors, Family.

Amnesty International (Local committe member Brussels), National Secular Society, RNLI, NAS/UWT

My Contract with the people of Newark

I will put local people first. I will be there to help, to listen to your concerns and to stand up for our community. I will:

  • Have an office open five days a week.

  • Hold regular surgeries in easily accessible places.

  • Ask you every year to complete a survey about what matters to you and report back on what I am doing.

  • Continue to work all year round for local people.

I will make sure your voice is heard locally and at Westminster. I will be a strong voice for Newark. I will:

  • Fight to protect local schools and health services.

  • Campaign to protect our local environment

  • Put the needs of my constituency before party bosses.

  • Meet regularly with local service providers like the police, health services and residents groups.

I will be open and honest about all expenses incurred in representing you. I will:

  • Publish details on my personal website.

  • Answer questions you may have about them promptly.
