Liberal Democrat David Watts has expressed his anger at Labour incompetence, against a backdrop of Liberal Democrat successes in Government. While Labour has wasted County Council funds the Liberal Democrats have delivered for Newark's young people.
David Watts is fighting for Newark in the by-election campaign to elect the replacement for Patrick Mercer, who resigned recently prior to the publication of a highy critical report by the Commons Committee on Standards. The report states that it agrees with the findings of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, who found that Conservative MP Mr Mercer "inflicted significant reputational damage on the House and its Members"
As of today all of the 42,100 eligible people in Newark will have received their first pay packet with a £700 tax delivered by the Lib Dems in Government. Across Newark and Sherwood that equates to 5,340 people taken out of income tax all together. The news has been welcomed by Newark Lib Dems.
The Newark local party unanimously adopted David Watts as their Liberal Democrat candidate to fight the Newark Parliamentary by election on June 5th.

Lib Dem candidate in Newark Constituency, Pauline Jenkins, has welcomed the endorsement of the Liberal Democrats by The Guardian and Observer newspapers. Pauline said: "I felt very pleased to read this endorsement and proud to belong to such a party, especially after the negativity in some other newspapers".
